Okay so i got a 25 gallon tank. Freshwater. I use a 20-40 power filter w. carbon. I have a bubble curtain. 4 live plants. (Melon sword, chain sword, lily red and green) Okay now for the fish. I use stress coat organic and tap water treated with AquaSafe. I also add aquarium salt to help fish keep electrolytes. I also have a vacuum siphon and do this once every 1-2 weeks and change 25% of water. I monitor levels with a test kit. I feed my fish 2x a day with tropical flakes and give them treats of bloodworms every now and then. Now I have a school of (6) GloFish 4 bettas- 3 female and 1 male. They get along great!!! 4 fruit tetra's. Mixed color. 1 small SAE. 2 snails trapdoor. Question...is this okay? And these snails suck should I replace them with Ramshorn snails? I have a 30 gal tank that Ive had for about 2 yrs, plus Ive had it set up with other fish in the past, and Id consider myself fairly fish knowledgeable, but I have never had anything like this happen before. within the last 7-10 days I have lost about 10 fish, most of them have died in the last 5 days. I only have 8 fish left. I have had guppies, tetras (cardinal & neon) & a blue paradise dwarf gourami. the temp is set at a consistent 73 degrees, I have an ammonia and pH monitor visible inside the tank, plus I tested with my API kits for pH, ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites, and everything was 100% normal. the only thing that is different, is after my last water change, I bought some new fish. a goldfish, an oto, a couple guppies, and some rummynose tetras. probably too many fish to add at once & overall the tank would be considered overstocked, but I tend to do that and make up for it with more frequent water changes. I have managed my tanks this way for years and never had any probs, plus I dont think this would cause the rapid deaths I am having. the rummynose were the first to start dying. lost 2 of the 3 about 5 days after I bought them, a couple days apart. then within the last week or so I have lost 5 of my cardinal/neon tetras, my hardy as hell gourami died yesterday, now today my goldfish is acting just like the gourami did before he croaked yesterday, and 2 or 3 guppies have died. I have 2 live plants in the tank that are thriving, I use aquarium salt and tap water purifier everytime I change my water, I have a heater of appropriate wattage that keeps the temp perfect, I have a power filter that I keep clean and just changed yesterday after doing another water change. and I have a power head to pump oxygen into the tank as well. the only thing I can think of is that the new fish brought some disease, OR the bucket I used to fill with water to put in the tank had some residue of soap or chemical in it (though I dont remember using it for cleaning, as these are my fish-specific buckets). I did about a 50-60% water change yesterday (with a known CLEAN bucket) when I really realized how many fish have died so quickly, and that my gourami was feeling sick, but it doesnt appear to have helped as the gourami died last night, as well as another guppy, and my goldfish that appeared normal yesterday is now having difficulty swimming and staying balanced. I see no sign of fungus or parasites. I did treat with copper safe for a potential worm I saw about 2 months ago. I have no idea what the heck to do/think here. even if I lose all my fish and buy more, I fear any new ones will die as well unless I figure out what the heck is in my tank. any thoughts/advice or referrals to a good book/website is appreciated!!! yes, duh, I know its not recommended to mix goldfish and tropical. the tropical fish I have all prefer/tolerate cooler temps, and Ive had goldfish historically and they are extremely hardy and forgiving fish. ok my community tank has ich, and i have ben using medication for about a week and a half now! a lot of fish have died(neon tetras)but now they seem to be getting better, but everytime one fish gets cured the bloody virus attatches itself to another fish, mainly 2 of my 4 female platies, the spots are all over them! and i using the meicine right, i add the correct doseage to the tank but i have a powerfull filter which blows its around the tank, is there achance the tings get knocked of one fish then get blown onto another, cos i think that, is aquarium salt a good option?? cos they are freshwater fish, are they meant to have salt? and which is more effective salt or medication? also on another problem i am planning for the arrival of a small angel fish so how fast to they grow?and could i keep it on its own or does it need a freind?

I have 75 gallon aquarium and I have 9 fish in it. It is new tank I have it for about a month and I try to do 25% water changes once a week, or 10-15% water change twice a week if I have a chance. After the water change, about 2 days later my water starts to get foggy again. It seems like its kind of foggy. I know I am not overfeeding my fish, and there aren't that many fish to pollute the water so much and I got penguin 350 filter and couple of other filters/air bubblers. I asked a guy in my local fish store what does he do that his freshwater aquariums are so clean and the water is clear. He told me: - I add some freshwater salt to aquariums, and I do 35% of water change 3 times a week. With 75 gallons of water I can't really do 35% (which is about 26 gallons) of water change every 2 days because my water bill will be really high. So what should I do to keep my water crystal clear? Is there anything I can do or add?
