Bottom Feeding Fish Of FloridaResolved Question: How Do You Get Rid of the fish called a Pleco? (Answers: 5) (Comments: 0) May 7, 2012 - I live on a canal in Davie, Florida. I have recently noticed the common bottom feeding fish called a pleco has a huge population in the canal. The problem is they dig or burrow in the bank and when I mow the bank falls away due to the fish digging into it. There are easily 30 just on my property alone. With those numbers its easy to see Im losing alot of real estate.What short of building an extremely expensive seawall could I do to get them to move or get rid of them? Thanks for your time.

May 1, 2012 - I have a small (5 gallon) freshwater aquarium for my daughter and have had it for 4 years now (original fish-2 small goldfish, a very small water frog to help with bottom feeding and an algae eater). They have survived many water changes, and even a move from Michigan to Florida.
