biozyme for freshwater aquariums Q & A

Resolved Question: When do I add ammonia?
After a lot of starting out troubles, I am cycling my tank the proper way. I am doing a fishless cycle, and it has been going for about 2 weeks. I added pure ammonia to get my ammonia readings up to about 4.5 ppm. I am doing everything I know to do (light on, temp. up, even added bio-zyme, but i think that was a waste...). My question is, I have read that once you get the ammonia up, you should add the amount of ammonia that it took to get it to that level every day. Won't that take my levels above 5ppm and make it harder to cycle my tank? Do I wait for Nitrite to spike to add ammonia? Also, what are your opinions of Biozyme? Did it help? Any other things that can be added to help my cycle along? (i.e. Stress-zyme) Thanks in advance for your help!

Resolved Question: Why isn't my ammonia and pH in my fish tank going down?
Ammonia I am cycling my tank roght now and I have been doing regular water changes. My ammonia has been the same for about a week now. What else can I do to lower it? Is this normal? pH My pH has had a reading of 7.6 for about a week and a hlaf. I have been putting pH down in my tank and the pH is still not lowering! I don't know why this! Also I have been using a thing called biozyme to help my tank cycle, how long will it take for my cycling to finish? And I had 8 Zebra Danios, now I only have 5! Is this normal for my fish to be dying?

Resolved Question: Something is wrong with my two new gouramis!?
I have a 29g aquarium that has been set up for months. I gave my tanks 4 months to cycle because I didn't want to risk anything. I slowly added plants and then let a little algea build up just to help cycle. I got 2 chines algea eaters that went to work straight away. After having the algea eaters for a week I added 3 mollies and 3 platies. All of these fish are doing great. Like I said this tank has cycled for months before adding fish. After another week with the mollies and platies I decided to buy 2 gouramis. I put them in the tank yesterday and now the gouramis act like they are dying. All my other fish are doing great. But now the water is cloudy and I'm not sure why. All my tests have come back good except for alkalinity which was a little high. I've put in more water conditioner, biozyme( to help with the cycling), and even an ammonia neutralizing tablet. I just don't understand why my two new fish are doing so poorly when all my others are great. What is happening. I don't understand why a tank that has been up and running for months is killing my 2 new gouramis and is now cloudy. HELP!

Resolved Question: 10 Gallon Aquarium Decorations?
I have a new 10 gallon tank that is now being cycled with biozyme and water tests are just about perfect. I accidentally chose a light gravel and it washes the color out of fish greatly, so going to have to get a black/blue mix. I ordered some plants off of ebay shown in the link below. I just need help on what to chose as hiding places / center pieces for the tank. I have been to several stores and nothing has looked good. Please any suggestions on a good looking tank. I would go live plants but so much more money to be dumped into them and just don't have it right now. Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-12-pcs-Plastic-Aquarium-Plants-Fish-Tank-Ornament-a_W0QQitemZ350266187064QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518d7ddd38

Resolved Question: Who can tell me why my tank won't cycle?
I have had my tank up and running for 4 weeks now. I originally put fish in and they died because I was ignorant. So I started feeding the now-fishless tank food to get the ammonia up. After about 2 weeks I started adding ammonia, and about 3 days ago I started adding BioZyme. My ammonia is sitting at 4 ppm, and I still have no signs whatsoever of Nitrites. I have kept the tank at about 82 degrees, and it is well oxygenated and everything. Any ideas as to when the bacteria will kick in? I did originally add a small bag of rocks from a fish store tank, but I don't think it helped much. I guess I should consider trying that again with something else.
