My son has a freshwater aquarium. It is 15 gallons . The only occupant is a large golden fantail. Yesterday I went in and there is little greenish black round spots growing on the front and back of tank but not the sides. Also one of his aquarium decorations had black spots all over it. Does anyone know what this is or how to get rid of it or if it's bad for the fish. My son takes meticulous care of his tank but we had to go to Ohio for two weeks and 2 days after we come back this is what I find. Since he has a gold fish we don't have a heater on it but he uses the tank light as his night light and it runs about 14 hours so it tends to make the tank a little warm. I left a neighbor in charge of it while we were gone but I don't know if she over fed or maybe didn't run the light or forgot to shut it off or what. She says she did everything EXACTLY the way I said but I'm skeptical cause when Connor does it we've never had a problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!! We NORMALLY clean and partial water change once a week with a filter change every 2 weeks as my son (who is 5) informed me goldfish are dirty and need more frequent cartridge changes. I rechecked his research and found he is right so thats what we do. But like I said we had to go away for 2 weeks and I don't think my neighbor followed my instructions because my 5 year old cares for his tank ON HIS OWN with very little assistance from me and we've NEVER had this problem before. He has been in love with fish and Aquariums since he was about 18 months old and i finally decided he was old enough to have a tank and learn responsibility. He has exceeded my expectations and even supports the tank with his allowance without complaint. Sorry I had to brag a little I'm very proud of him. Anyway... Thanks for all the great answers and help!!
