Resolved Question: I want to adopt a fish!!!?
I live in So Cal and I have a 20 gallon freshwater aquarium. I want to adopt abused or neglected small freshwater fish. If you know of a place or website please tell me. Thank you.
Resolved Question: Angelfish in tall 12 gallon?
I have a, probably 20 inch tall 10 gallon bowfront aquarium. It has been cycled and has ghost shrimp living in it currently. My question is: is the tank tall enough for an freshwater angelfish, or do they need more room (I haven't bought any fish yet) Thanks!
Resolved Question: I have extremely small white worms floating around my tank, what are they and how can treat them?
I have these white things on my tanks for almost a month. I asked 2 months ago about this but only one person who answer my question, he answered my question but I think he's wrong because he said that this white things are anchor worms but they are not, I chosen his answer because he give some tips that can be help me. In first, I thought that this white things are mosquito but I discovered that they not, In second time I thought that they are flea's but it's same with mosquito. My fishes in my tank is a freshwater angelfish not too big, not too small and one pleco in medium size, they live both in 5 gallon tank. I'd search all about these white things but there are no any result of it, they attached on glass of my aquarium and I asked one of the aquarist in our town they said put methylene blue 4 drops for 5 gallon they said. I put methylene blue in my aquarium but it doesn't work, So I stop using it for one month and I never used it. So how do I kill them any medicine required to kill them or clean the tank in whole change? if clean the tank, I don't have other tank for emergency in cleaning the tank in whole change and the water quality in our town is very low it's have corrosion, dust, sand and sometimes it's clean but in other day if you clean again it's clean but its have harmful chemical that can be harm my fishes in minutes.. So what will I do Im planning to bring them in veterinarian because my angelfish is have a fin rot so they will cure it for a day and I will clean the aquarium before they go home in there proper aquarium..... Thank you.. I hope that you will help me in this problematic situation.. Sorry for long question and some story..
Resolved Question: What is a good carnivorous fish for a aquarium that will aggressivly consume other fish?
I'm looking for a fish that will consume other live fish, willing to spend whatever time needed to care for it, but really I just want a fish that will eat other fish that needs only about a 20-35 gallon tank. Preferably freshwater with a slender body. Looking for a solitray fish.
Resolved Question: HELP PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION ?!?!?!?!?
Hello, everyone i am in need of some assistance. You see,i have this dream of building or making an aquarium ecosystem. This dream became reality when i bought my 750 gallon aquarium. It cost me a fortune, but i'm happy with my decision.I need someone to give me an idea on what fish and crustaceans i should add to my tank.i already have some ideas for plants and the design of the tank.I would like my tank to resemble a coral reef,or at least one of the rift lakes in Africa.Mind you,i do not want any rift lake fishes, because i have owned many of them in the past.I want something new,in other words, can someone suggest some new and quick growing freshwater fish species which can live in soft acidic to mildly hard water.I would like the 'largest' fish to attain a maximum length of 5 inches.I also need help setting up a 'food web'.This idea may sound a bit crazy, but it's been my dream for nearly a decade now.I already have a variety of plants and the tank is cycled,so i've already taken care of the producer problem.I need the fishes and crustaceans that will be higher in the trophic level. For example after the producers i will have the 'wild' variety of guppy and a few small tetras.I will need a fish that can prey on this fish.My 'wild guppies grow to a maximum length of 3 cm.I live in a tropical climate so the heating won't be a problem. BTW can you rate my english. You see,i'm learning english and i would love for someone to rate mine.No rude answers please!
Voting Question: I have a few questions...What type of fish fish can get along with a betta?
1. What type of fish fish can get along with a betta? I hear that the males are more aggressive than the females...soo...Can the females get on well with more types of fish? (In particular, I want to know if they get along with different types of tetras & glassfish, as that's what's in the tank now.) I don't want the betta to go after them or anything. 2. I had a betta about four years ago and he only lived about a year and a half...Then his whole body puffed like a balloon and a few days after, he died. ): So, my question is, what was wrong with him? 3. Can you give me some suggestions for non-agressive, small freshwater fish (Ones that can get along with a couple tetras and glass catfish.) Also, I have a 20 gallon tank...So, yeah, the smaller, the better. 4. What will happen if you have more than inch of fish per gallon? A friend of mine has a huge oscar in a 10gal tank....I feel bad for him, but he's lived in there for two years, no problems. So, what is the absolute maxumum that you can have in a 20gal? 5.How hard is it to maintain a saltwater aquarium? You don't have to answer all of my questions, of course! Just answer one or two and I'll be happy. Thanks! By the way, everyone in the Y!A fish section is really knowledgable, it's amazing. @_@ Argh! I forgot! I also have a crayfish! Will they get along with aquarium frogs or newts or larger varieties of shrimp? Also...(Argh! I have too many questions!)I'm interested in getting a mudskipper. They're just so cute.
Voting Question: I have a 128 litre Freshwater aquarium, How muuch will it cost to convert to saltwater?
Okay so I have kept freshwater fish for over 2 years and now I think Im ready for the challenge of saltwater fish. I have already a tank, lighting (Blue actinic tube and also a daylight tube) heaters (2 150W smartheaters) A large external filter (Eheim Ecco) and a pump. I think I need: protein skimmer powerheads live rock live sand My LFS sells premixed water which I will use for now. Have I missed anything? Obviously I know it's a small tank but it is all that is practical for me. Also my main question: How much will it all cost? I live in the UK so in GBP would be nice. :P also Im still at school too so I don't have loads of money... This may be a problem :(
